About Us
Triad Investigations is locally owned and operated.  We're centrally located in North Carolina in the area known as the  Piedmont Triad, which includes Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point and surrounding areas.

Our Owner and Chief Investigator is Tim Wooten who spent 40 years in local law enforcement. Over the years Tim served in a variety of positions including Records Custodian, Telecommunicator; Evidence Custodian, Crime Scene Investigator; Patrol Officer; Field Training Officer; Instructor; Detective; Crime Lab Director; Assistant Police Chief; Chief Deputy and Police Chief.

Tim is known for utilizing new and innovative methods for developing latent fingerprints, foot and shoe prints, tire tracks, pry marks and other evidence located at crime scenes. 

- In 1980, he presented the first case in the state to use broken headlight and taillight filaments to determine which           vehicle had their lights turned off at the time of a deadly night time 2 car crash in Winston-Salem.

- In 1988, he was lead crime scene investigator on a home invasion, attempted murder and arson resulting in the             first DNA  case prosecuted in North Carolina. (State Vs. Pennington).   

Tim has conducted hundreds of death investigations including drownings; vehicle fatalities; drug overdoses; suicides; fire fatalities; natural deaths and homicides. He's worked some of North Carolina's most highly publicized cases.  

He's  investigated officer involved shootings, in-custody deaths, use of force and excessive force complaints along with citizen complaints pertaining to rule violations, unbecoming conduct, dereliction of duty and officer misconduct.

- In 1988, he was lead crime scene investigator on Forsyth County's largest mass shooting where nine motorist were
  shot resulting in four deaths and a gun fight with Deputies on Old Salisbury Road. (State vs Michael Hayes).   

- Tim served as a Technical Consultant for the VICELAND TV Documentary, "The Devil You Know", which reviewed
   the activities of and multiple investigations into John Lawson (AKA Pazuzu Algarad), a Satan worshiper who killed
   and buried his victims in his own backyard in the tranquil Village of Clemmons, North Carolina.  
During his career, Tim personally investigated, assisted with or supervised the handling of thousands of cases pertaining to Motor Vehicle Accidents; Frauds and False Pretense; Assaults; Thefts; Drug Violations; Residential and Non-Residential Burglaries; Armed Robberies; Sexual Offenses; Child and Elder Abuse; Suspicious Fires and Arsons; Suspicious Deaths and Homicides. He's organized and handled searches for missing children, seniors or those with cognitive issues along with coordinating full scale manhunts for fugitives, escapees and wanted persons.  

Tim has testified in court hearings and jury trials as a Latent Fingerprint Examiner, Crime Scene Investigative Expert, Detective, Patrol Officer and First Officer on the scene. He's testified in some of the most publicized and high profile cases in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County's history.
